Studying: not really
Dexter: Starting season 3. AH WTF at this show so far.

My grade should be pretty decent. Probably another B? B- at worst? I feel like I performed a little better this semester, but I had an unexcused absence which dropped my participation grade down to a B+, plus I did poorly on the quizzes (10% of the grade), but better on the exams (30%). Whatevs.

I have to clean my room before room check out, not to mention the usual laundry. I am sorely tempted to just put all of this off until Saturday so I have something to do before taking off for the German countryside. I cannot believe I will be on vacation in the country for two weeks - it just seems way too idyllic. Who the heck still does this? :P  Assuming it will be something like a vacation for me as well, I have some reading on hand. Effi Briest, Die Verwandlung, and Jakob der Luegner. I am looking forward to finding a quiet place in the shade to read. Also looking forward to riding bikes. YAY!

Catharina wrote a prescription for Yasmin for me. It's a 6 month prescription and if I am reading her letter correctly it will be between 30-40 euro for six months. At first I thought it was for one month 30-40 euro but I don't think so, since birth control is super cheap here. I'm not 100% sure. I guess I'll find out when I try to get the prescription filled, probably

It just pisses me off that birth control is so cheap here but in the US they ream you every way possible. Even for generics. I think the US should buy a clue in regards to birth control cost.

I looked into the TESOL program at UNR. Their webpage greeted me with "Due to severe budget cuts at the university, it is proposed that the MA-TESOL program be de-activated for a period of five years. This proposal will be approved or disapproved by mid-May. You may wish to contact us again at that time for more information." They've been a little behind in updating but after searching The Sagebrush site, it seems it was deactivated for five years. I e-mailed them just in case. And surprise! In case this was something I *really* want to do, I can't even do it in state because UNLV doesn't offer it either. Way to go, NSHE. I'm of the opinion that "designer" programs should be offered at at least one in-state school, but that is apparently just too common sense for NSHE. My sister mentioned something about getting into out-of-state schools while paying NV tuition if the program is not offered, but I can't find anything and chances are it wouldn't apply anyway.
Suck.

. . . This weather is so so peculiar. Very northern Germany. . . frigid during the week, the all of a sudden it is supposed to be 24 this weekend. Shenanigans! So I went to H&M in Hamburg and bought shorts, which I like. H&M is all over the place for me sizewise - in the US depending on the brand I'm a 14 or 16 - at H&M I'm an 18 or a 20. Thankfully the H&Ms here have the plus size goods. So that collection it was!

Before H&M I called Catharina, and Emma answered the phone so I said "Hallo, ich rufe fuer Catharina an." I think that was correct. . . I was never taught German phone etiquette and if I was I did not pay attention so it's very weird here for me in that regard. I am going to have to ask Michaela. That and what you say when you meet people!

We talked for about 20 minutes and she is paying for my train ticket to Bonn, maybe for next weekend. She wants to make sure her husband will be some, her current Au Pair will be around, and everyone will be good. She wants me to come for one night, two days. Very cool. Or maybe two nights.

I'm very excited about this. . . and yes, it's work. 45 hours of work a week, to be exact. The German government says 30 hours a week/260 euros a month for Au Pairs but she needs more help than that around the house so it's 45 hours a week/500 euros a month there. Plus health care. She also says she encourages her au pairs to have family visit. I have 2 days of vacation a month, or 4 weeks a year total.

My work is making lunch, doing laundry, straightening up around the house, cooking dinner. Not that big of a deal at all. Really. I hang out with the kids (Ava is 2, Emma is almost 7) and speak English with them. I told Catharina it would be great if she could speak German with me.

Dude! I can go to the Netherlands after all! Bonn is close to Koeln and Aachen and cool stuff. So, I'm very excited. If things work out with the family, I will be in Germany for another year. Then if I get into ASU, it will be back to Reno August 7 to pack up and move to Tempe. Hot damn. School starts on August 16th I believe? Anyway, VERY excited.

I will also have to buy a suitcase. And winter clothes. Hehe. Must not get ahead of myself here.
