Dec. 15th, 2009 08:57 pmSaturday evening At Twelfth Night, starting around 9:00 PM in
vittoriosa 's room, there will be a party. A party of epic (harhar, stole teh funnay!) 10th - 16th century literary proportions, with some Latin on top.
Vittoria and I will have geographically/chronologically coordinated foodstuffs plus booze, of course. This is open to everyone and will be posted to SCA-West in the near future. Since it will be sometimes after Duchesses' Ball begins, hopefully everybody can get in on the action.
Aleit will be reading selections from The Battle of Maldon (Anglo-Saxon, composed sometime after 991, maybe 1020s, but definitely before the 1040s) and Im Frauwenzimmer Wirt Vermeldt Von Allerley Schonen Kleidungen Unnd Trachten (German, 1586), both with English translations.
Vittoria will be reading selections from the Orlando furioso (Italian, 1532) and possibly some goodies in Latin, with English translations.
Moshe will be reading to-be-determined selections of medieval awesomeness (with w00t sauce on top).
If you are interested in jumping on the poetry-reading bandwagon, let me and/or
vittoriosa know. We are especially excited to hear from people who would like to read works in original languages. If you are interested in bringing a beverage to share, that would likewise be greatly appreciated.
More details as we firm things up.
